It was the last day of camp and I was so scared

on

I was so scared that I cried at night, so scared that I would wake up
early and cry in my Nana and Papa’s arms. That’s when I thought it was time
to start packing.

I had a big load to take, I couldn’t bear the thought of
not doing my job, and yet I had to do it. I was sure I would fail, I thought.
But, I had a plan – I would give it my all, I would not allow myself to
let it, and I would get my best results. I’d be a success. Because, I knew
something I never knew. I could do it. I could be great. I could be a
successful, amazing girl.

So, I picked up my teddy bear and my dolly and ran to camp, I took
care of the girls, I ate everything; I even took care of my little brother,
I was ten. I did my best and I won.

The last day came and, like usual, I was looking forward to it. I
even felt happy, as I watched my parents drive out to meet the girls, and I
hugged my Nana and Papa for a moment.

Suddenly, I saw the light. I heard the loud humming sound and
watched the dust fly off my shoes as I left the school grounds. I went past
the cars. I waved at everyone. I was in a daze. I didn’t know what to do, where
to go. I was scared, but as I ran, I knew what I had to do. I had to find my
confidence, I had to find my power. I had to take it all in, and the more I
took in, the more I knew. I had to be successful.

I had to be, my parents had told me, because, they knew me, and
they knew I could accomplish what it took. I had to be a strong woman. It was
time to become a strong woman.

I took all my courage and ran past my house. I was on my way to the
camp. I could hear, faintly, the car radios playing the music of the camp.
Every time a song started, I ran ahead, so I wouldn’t miss it. Finally,
there was my car and I was inside.

The camp was quiet tonight, but as I looked around, I realised
then, that everyone was waiting for me. They were all waiting, for me to come,
to step up onto the stage of life. And I knew I would, that I owed it to all
of them. That I would succeed.

I walked up to the stage, and I stepped onstage. I took a deep breath,
and I made myself feel proud and strong. I took a deep breath and felt it go
out. I let myself feel how strong I was. I felt proud and strong, with my
confidence firmly in place, with my power firmly in place, I took a step down,
and I felt my feet touch the ground.

I felt my confidence grow. I took each step with confidence, my
steps were firm.

I took another breath, and a third, and a fourth.

I was up to my ankles. I was up to my knees. I was up to my neck, I
was up to my ears, I was up to my shoulders, I was up to my head. My head was
in the air, my feet, my hands, my shoulders, my eyes, my arms, my legs. I was
up to my shoulders, I was up to my ankles. I was up at the top of my head, I
was up around my ears. I was in my crown. I was up to my shoulders. I was up
to the top of my head. I was in my crown. My feet were on the ground. I was
in my shoes. I had my confidence. I had my power. I had my pride. I had my
focus. I had my focus. I was in control. I was in control.

I was in control, I was going to win. I would win this week, and the
week after, and the week after that. I belonged to this camp. I was going to be
something. I was going to be amazing. I wanted to be amazing. I wanted to be
awesome, I wanted to be awesome.

I walked up to the front of the stage, and I walked up to the
front of the stage. I felt I belonged. I belonged. My hands were on my hips.
I turned to the right, and my right hand went to my left shoulder, and I held
it there. My head turned to the right, I held my head there. My head turned to
the left, I held my head there. My head turned to the left, I held my head
there. My head turned to the right, I held my head there. My hands went up in
the air, I held my hands up in the air. I raised my hands, I raised my hands
to the side, I raised my hands to the side, I raised my hands from the side,
I raised my hands from the side, palms facing the audience.

I held my head up in the air. My arms were stretched out to the side,
my arms were stretched out to the side. My arms were stretched out to the side,
my hands were stretched out to the side. My hands were stretched out to the
side, my hands were stretched out to the side. My hands were stretched out to
the side, my hands were stretched out to the side, my hands were stretched out
to the side, my hands were stretched out to the side, my hands were stretched
out to the side.
